Government Funding
Government Funding
Strong competition for skilled workers is a key driver of the training industry in Australia, with workplace skills shortages evident across a range of        regions, industries and occupations.

The Australian Government recognises that current skills shortages, if left unchecked, could constrain the nation’s future economic growth and restrict the ability of businesses to remain competitive.

There are various funding and incentive programs available, managed at both State and Federal Government level, that allow for a variety of Government funded courses and qualifications.

Train staff and be paid to train through traineeships

If you place an eligible staff member into a traineeship program, your organisation can be paid $4000 in funding by the Federal Government.

Traineeships hold enormous benefits for the organisation and the candidate if applied in a way that makes business sense and that meets the learning and business improvement needs of the organisation.

Typically, funding is only available when ‘up-skilling' is occurring. That is, if a worker has previously attended training in a similar area funding may not be available for this training.

- Only nationally recognised qualifications are considered as prior qualifications. For example, a   candidate who holds a ‘Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer' qualification may still be eligible   for funding, as this qualification is not nationally recognised.

- Certain nationally recognised qualifications (such as Certificates II, III or IV) completed more    than seven years ago may still be eligible.

Craig is a Security Guard and completed a Certificate IV in Security Operations in 2009.He now would like to complete a Diploma of Management and may be eligible for funding because Diploma’s are now funded if you already hold a Certificate II, III or IV qualification.
